On March 21st, 2007, 39 students of the very first City of El Paso Leadership Academy graduated, of which
seven are members of the Las Tierras Neighborhood Association. We are very proud of the graduates.
It shows a strong committment to being involved in the community and to work for the betterment of
the community in which we live.
It was a 16 week course to familiarize people with the
structure of the City of El Paso Government. It was an interesting and informative class and
we, the graduates, recommend it highly to all who live in El Paso. If anyone is interested in
the next class coming up in the fall, please see Charlene Walker for a registration form. You can
find her email on the Officers Page of the Website.
Dinner was served while a Jazz band played for our enjoyment. After dinner, each graduate received a Certificate of Completion presented by Mayor John Cook.
Some graduates received plaques for perfect attendence. Mayor Cook and City Manager Joyce Wilson spoke and City District
Representatives were also present. It was a very enjoyable evening for all.
Below are some pictures from the graduation party.
