LAS TIERRAS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION - MISSION

To develop a community identity; To promote its quality of life, namely the health, safety and welfare of our neighborhoods; and to participate in the political process as it pertains to our community in the city and county of El Paso, TX. by providing a conduit for clear communication between our community and our political leaders.

This and That from Colleen

A serious concern has been brought to my attention about car thieves starting to move into our neighborhoods. No longer are the shopping mall parking lots the favorite hunting grounds of these thieves, but our neighborhoods and in particular, the Tierras. The thieves are apparently targeting trucks, especially the F150 trucks, so be aware.

We need to get more vigilant in watching our neighborhoods and reporting suspicious activities.

If you do not have a Neighborhood Watch on your street or in your neighborhood, please call Officer Montelongo and get one started.

To setup a Neighborhood Watch in your neighborhood call:

Officer A. Montelongo #1712
Crime Prevention Officer
Pebble Hills Regional Command
10780 Pebble Hills
(915)599-5898
(915)599-5504 (FAX)
MontelongoAX@elpasotexas.gov

Another tip from the police is to consider using the anti-theft devices such as a Car Boot and also considering adding another alarm to your cars and trucks besides the one that came with them.

There will be an article on this in the El Paso Times, Borderland section, this Thursday, Sep. 13th.

Thank you,
Colleen

Concert in the Park

A hundred+ people enjoyed an evening of great music presented by Vocal Spectrum, International Barbershop Contest Winners from St. Louis, Mo., with an intermission performance by El Paso's own Border Chorders barbershop group.

The concert was held at the Salvador Rivas Jr. Park on Pebble Hills. The weather was great and the Concert was terrific.

The Concert was sponsored by Las Tierras Neighborhood Assoc., El Paso Parks and Recreation, Las Tierras Community Church and Anchored Music.

Thank you to the many people who worked to arrange this great concert and Special Thanks to Vocal Spectrum for their great performance and to Border Chorders for their great performance during the intermission. We enjoyed it tremendously and it was a wonderful way to spend the evening!

LTNA Member's Christmas Party

Our Social committee is planning to host a Christmas party in December. This event will be for all our members and their families. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be present and we hope to have a special visit from the "Grinch" !

If you would like to volunteer to help the committee, we will have a sign-up sheet at our monthly meetings starting with the September meeting.
