LAS TIERRAS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION - MISSION

To develop a community identity; To promote its quality of life, namely the health, safety and welfare of our neighborhoods; and to participate in the political process as it pertains to our community in the city and county of El Paso, TX. by providing a conduit for clear communication between our community and our political leaders.

COMMUNITY MEETINGS AT LOCAL LIBRARIES ADDRESSING PUBLIC CONCERN REGARDING CLOSURE OF THE SIX CITIZEN COLLECTION SITES

WHO - Ellen Smyth, Director of Environmental Services

WHAT - Will hold community meetings to address public concern regarding the closure of the six citizen collection sites (CCS)

WHEN & WHERE - The meetings will be held on the following dates at different Public Library locations:

Tuesday, Sept. 18th 5:30 pm Memorial Park Branch 3200 Copper

Saturday, Sept. 22nd 2:00 PM Irving Schwartz Branch 1865 Dean Martin

WHY - Ellen Smyth, Director of Environmental Services would like to invite members of the community to attend a community meeting where she will address their concerns and answer questions regarding the closure of the 6 CCS and the opening of one mega site. The meetings are meant to give El Paso residents a clear understanding as to why the 6 sites will be closed and to inform them of the benefits to having a Mega Site for the collection of hazardous household wastes, extra trash, large bulky items and yard trimmings.

OUR APOLOGIES

It has come to our attention that some residents here in the "Las Tierras" have tried to join through our website page. We did not know that the link on the Membership page was not functioning. Just this last week, it has been brought to us and we have repaired that function.

It has come to our attention through a recent inquiry that the Las Tierras Neighborhood Association is being mistaken as a Homeowners Association. We are not a Homeowners Association. We do not manage, in anyway, your homes nor the common areas within our Association boundaries. We are a Neighborhood Association, recognized by the City of El Paso, who, working with the City, try to make our neighborhoods better in the areas of safety and quality of life issues. I hope this will help clarify any confusion about what type of Association we are.
