LAS TIERRAS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION - MISSION

To develop a community identity; To promote its quality of life, namely the health, safety and welfare of our neighborhoods; and to participate in the political process as it pertains to our community in the city and county of El Paso, TX. by providing a conduit for clear communication between our community and our political leaders.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MEETING A SUCCESS!

LTNA held the meeting on December 5th at the library on Pebble Hills. We had 18 residents attend and all those who were not members at that time joined that night. We gave handouts of all the information that was needed for members to start the process on their block. LTNA will have another Neighborhood Watch meeting in the early months of 2007. If you or anyone you know is interested, you can contact Charlene Walker at cmhbwalker@aol.com.

The Grand Opening of the
Esperanza Acosta Moreno Regional Branch Library

Approximately 130 people attended, included members of Esperanza's family, singers from El Dorado High School, Boy Scout Troop 192, City Council Representative Presi Ortega, and lots of friends of the Library. Mariachi Sangre Mexicana de Montwood High School provided lively music, and refreshments were served. A good time was had by all!

LTNA ANNUAL MEETING

January 23, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. LTNA will have our annual meeting. This is a very important meeting, where Election of Officers, the changes and approval of the Bylaws and an Open Forum for you to give your input and feedback to the officers are extremely vital and important. The Nominations and Elections of Officers will be held at the meeting. Please check out the website for proposed Bylaw changes so that you can see them before the meeting. If you have any changes that you would like to see, come to the meeting with the proposed changes and be prepared to discuss them. All active (paid members) have voting rights.

Please check out the Proposed Bylaws Changes here:

FEBRUARY MEETING: GANG UNIT

Do you know that we have over 100 gang members living in our community? LTNA"s February meeting presentation will be the Gang Unit, with Officer Rodrigo Chairez. Please tell all your friends and neighbors so that we can learn how we can address this issue!

Friends of the Esperanza Acosta Moreno Library

Everyone interested in becoming a member of the Friends of the Esperanza Acosta Moreno Library is invited to our first meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at the Library. If you have some free time and enjoy the library atmosphere, we could really use your help! We have a Friends Book Store built into our new building, where you could sell used books to support Library programming. Friends of the Library also attend City meetings and speak up for the Library when needed. They also host receptions when we have visiting authors or artists. There are many things you could do to help us!

If you need more information,
please call 921-7001.
