LAS TIERRAS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION - MISSION

To develop a community identity; To promote its quality of life, namely the health, safety and welfare of our neighborhoods; and to participate in the political process as it pertains to our community in the city and county of El Paso, TX. by providing a conduit for clear communication between our community and our political leaders.

PLEASE NOTE !

The February Meeting date (shown in RED) has been changed from Feb. 13th to Feb. 20th!

LTNA ANNUAL ELECTION MEETING TONIGHT !

Tonight, January 23, 2007 is LTNA's official 1st annual elections meeting. Our agenda will include: Proposed amendments to LTNA Bylaws, election of Officers (nominations from the floor), and then will follow up with an open forum, where LTNA wants to hear what our members have to say. We will hand out a questionnaire that we hope everyone in attendance will fill out for us. Our desire is for us to learn what you, our residents of Las Tierras are thinking. Is there something you need to discuss, or maybe a topic that you would like for us to have presented at a future meeting. As residents of Las Tierras, we need to join together so that we can build a unified, strong neighborhood!

EL PASO POLICE DEPARTMENT GANG UNIT

The February 20th meeting will be one that you will want to attend! Please tell all your neighbors and friends, everyone you know who resides in the Las Tierras neighborhood that Officer Rodrigo Chairez, from the El Paso Police Department Gang Unit will be our speaker. Did you know that we have over 100 gang members living in our neighborhood? Plan to attend and learn from officer Chairez how important it is for all of us living in the Las Tierras neighborhood to address this issue!

LTNA MARCH MEETING

Although not confirmed at this time, we have the possibility that Sierra Hospital will be on the agenda for our March meeting. With the Hospital going up rapidly, it would be of great benefit to all of us to hear them speak and welcome them to our neighborhood.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The committee has held meetings with and have established a working relationship with River Oaks. The committee has addressed issues that concern the LTNA, such as adult venues and liquor stores. Strongly stressing that we represent the residents and do not want these kind of businesses in our neighborhood. If you are interested in joining the committee,

Please contact:  Lorena Estala

LTNA & LIBRARY PARTNERSHIP

LTNA supports our neighborhood library. You will be receiving from time to time emails that will keep you informed of the "happenings" of the library. We feel that the library is a vital and important part of our community. With all they have to offer all residents, we hope that our residents find the time to support them! Having Children's Story Time on Thursdays and Saturdays, a Teen Hangout Program, and a Friends of the Library group, there are many ways that you can help! Please call 921-7001 for information.

INCOME TAX TIME!

With Christmas over and the New Year starting, we all now must focus on filing our 2006 Taxes. You can pick up the forms and instructions at the main Post Office on 8401 Boeing Dr., El Paso, Texas 79925.
