LAS TIERRAS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION - MISSION

To develop a community identity; To promote its quality of life, namely the health, safety and welfare of our neighborhoods; and to participate in the political process as it pertains to our community in the city and county of El Paso, TX. by providing a conduit for clear communication between our community and our political leaders.

PLEASE NOTE !

The April Meeting location has been changed from Sgt. Roberto Ituarte School to the Library.

The Officers meeting has been changed to Mar. 27th

Welcome to Las Tierras Neighborhood Association Dedicated to Friendship and Unity, One Neighbor to Another

One New Year; Many new challenges! I am excited to have the opportunity to be playing a part in meeting these new challenges.

The Las Tierras Neighborhood Association has indeed come a long way in the 6 months we have been in existence. However, we have a long way to go to have the community that we all would wish for.

The officers have many new ideas to address, but we also need input and help from you, the members. The participation of the whole community is vital in creating an Association that will be effective and beneficial to all the members. Talk to us at the meetings, email us, call us... anyway you can to let us know your great ideas for a better community.

If you are already a member, participate by volunteering; both your ideas and your time when you can. If you are not a member, please join us and make the Association a strong and vital organization. For those of you who do not live in our area, but would like to participate in our functions, we have just created an Advocate Member... See our new bylaws for an explanation. We would love to have you too.

Your Officers and I are looking forward to a great year! Please join us!

Sincerely,
Colleen Lewis, President

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

It has come to my attention through a recent inquiry that it is possible that the Las Tierras Neighborhood Association is sometimes being mistaken as a Homeowners Association. We are not a Homeowners Association. We do not manage, in anyway, your homes nor the common areas within our Association boundaries. We are a Neighborhood Association, recognized by the City of El Paso, who, working with the City, try to make our neighborhoods better in the areas of safety and quality of life issues. I hope this will help clarify any confusion about what type of Association we are. If anyone has any questions, please call or email any officer.

March 28th EAST SIDE CIVIC ASSOCIATION CANDIDATES NIGHT

The East Side Civic Association, LTNA, Las Palmas Neighborhood Association and Cielo Vista Neighborhood Association are sponsoring a candidates night for the upcoming elections in May. Come and talk to the candidates, get your questions answered and get the information you need to help you vote in May.

Time: 7:00p.m.
Location: Eastside Senior Center,
3200 Fierro

City-wide elections will be held in May. Our District 5 will need to elect a new City Representative, so be prepared. Register, attend Candidate Forums and vote for the leader of your choice. This is extremely important to you, the voter, and to the Neighborhood association, because we work closely with the District 5 Representative in matters that pertain to our neighborhood.

NEIGHBORHOOD COALITION TASK FORCE FOR CODE COMPLIANCE

The Neighborhood Coalition is setting up a Code Compliance Task Force to work on ways to enforce code compliance in the El Paso Neighborhoods. They are trying to get someone from each District on the Task force. If you are interested, please call Pete Hollen at 855-9815

NEIGHBORHOOD SUMMIT

The Neighborhood Coalition is sponsoring a Neighborhood Summit. This will open to the public. They are looking for ideas on workshops for the summit. If you have any ideas that you would like to see at the summit, please let Pete Hollen know.

LTNA MEMBERS GRADUATE FROM THE EL PASO NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

Wednesday, March 21, 2007, LTNA will have seven members graduating from the City of El Paso's first Neighborhood Leadership Academy class. Colleen Lewis, Charlene Walker, Anita Brysacz, Beth Kuzma, Jose Castro, John Almeida and Mark Tegmeyer have completed the 16 week program which gave them a working knowledge of how the El Paso city government operates. These classes have valuable information that all citizens of El Paso can use. Although this first class is finished, the city of El Paso will have another class start in the fall. If you are interested in attending these classes, or need further information please ask Charlene Walker for an application.
