LAS TIERRAS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION - MISSION

To develop a community identity; To promote its quality of life, namely the health, safety and welfare of our neighborhoods; and to participate in the political process as it pertains to our community in the city and county of El Paso, TX. by providing a conduit for clear communication between our community and our political leaders.

As every one knows by now, the District 5 Representative race was too close to call and there will be a runoff vote on June 9th. It is very important that everyone vote again for this position. We live in District 5 and the Association works closely with the Representative so please vote again.

Don't forget the Freedom Tree Planting on Saturday, May 19th at 8:30 a.m., and the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new park at 10:00 a.m. the same day.

LTNA MEMBERSHIP

We are in the process of making membership cards for everyone who has joined LTNA. This membership card will bring you benefits at some of our local businesses. In order to keep cost down and to get these cards made so that we all can begin using them in June, we need your help. Please get with our membership chairperson, Charlene Walker to get your membership paid up through December 2008. Since everyone has paid at different times of the year, we will prorate everyone, so that we can bring all memberships paid through 2008. Remember, this is a benefit for you and your family, but you need to have a current membership card to show at the participating businesses. We will notify you on your email to let you know which businesses are participating and what they are offering.

FREEDOM TREE CEREMONY

The Sgt Roberto Ituarte Memorial Committee invite you to join us this Saturday at the Sgt Roberto Ituarte Elementary School, 12860 Tierra Sonora for the tree planting ceremony at 8:30 a.m.

Following the ceremony, the selection of trees will be planted by the operational services personnel.

GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY

The Salvador Rivas Park, located at the Esperanza Acosta Moreno Library, 12480 Pebble Hills will also be having their groundbreaking ceremony at 10:00a.m.

Make a day of it, bring your family and support our neighborhood by attending the "Freedom Tree Planting", and then join us at the library for the "groundbreaking ceremony". Plan to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the ceremony at the library.

NEW SOCIAL COMMITTEE CHAIR

We now have a chairperson for our "Social Committee". If you are interested in serving on this committee, please call Anita Brysacz at 261-7011.
